Lessons From Building My First Web Project

Placeholder demo article — replace with your own writing before launch.

My first real web project was a to-do list app that, in hindsight, tried to do far too much. Looking back, the mistakes I made were more instructive than anything that went right.

What I Set Out to Build

The plan was a task manager with categories, due dates, recurring tasks, and a dashboard. Reasonable on paper — far too ambitious for a first project.

What Went Wrong

  • I designed the database schema before I understood the actual use case.
  • I kept adding features instead of finishing the core flow.
  • I didn’t test on mobile until the very end.

What I’d Do Differently

Start smaller than feels comfortable. A working, ugly version of the core feature teaches you more than a beautifully planned version that never ships.

These days, this section of the portfolio holds the projects that came after — each one a little more finished than the last.
