5 JavaScript Concepts Every Beginner Should Know

Placeholder demo article — replace with your own writing before launch.

JavaScript has a lot of surface area, but a handful of core concepts unlock most of what you’ll encounter day to day.

  1. Variables and scope — understanding let, const, and how scope determines where a variable is accessible.
  2. Functions — including arrow functions and how “this” behaves differently between them.
  3. Arrays and objects — the two data structures you’ll use constantly, plus common methods like map and filter.
  4. Asynchronous code — promises and async/await for handling things like network requests.
  5. The DOM — how JavaScript reads and updates the page in the browser.

A Small Example

const numbers = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5];
const doubled = numbers.map((n) => n * 2);

console.log(doubled); // [2, 4, 6, 8, 10]

Once these five ideas feel comfortable, most frameworks stop looking like magic and start looking like JavaScript with extra conventions layered on top.
